Getting Around Locally

  • Free shut­tle bus (Les Arcs 1800/1600/1950/2000, 07:00–19:30, lat­er on a Thurs­day and week­ends). Check out the timetable on the Les Arcs web­site.

Eating & Drinking

  • Super­mar­kets: Main street in Vil­lards; also in Charvet and Bourg St Mau­rice
  • Restau­rants: Book well ahead dur­ing busy times (sit­tings at 19:00 or 21:00). Ask own­er for cur­rent rec­om­men­da­tions
  • Take­away: Avail­able from super­mar­ket and var­i­ous vil­lage shops

Before You Leave

  • Clean­ing: Please leave Apart­ment clean & tidy for the next group of friends. To organ­ise agency clean­ing please advise in advance and I can try to arrange: Agency charges €130 + €30 for laun­dry. 
  • Sheets: Bed­ding and sheets avail­able in the Apart­ment. To wash & dry sheets by end of stay please allow 3–4 hours for Laun­dry to clean and dry. Laun­dry shops are 10 mins walk from the Apart­ment. Please con­tact for direc­tions. 

Skiing

  • Ski Schools: ESF, Arc Adven­tures, Pri­valege — group & indi­vid­ual lessons, book online for dis­counts
  • Mul­ti­ple rental shops oper­ate in Arc 1800, includ­ing SkiSet, Ski Repub­lic, Arc Adven­ture, and Inter­sport. Prices vary by equip­ment type and rental dura­tion. Insur­ance typ­i­cal­ly cov­ers theft or loss but not dam­age beyond nor­mal wear and tear—you may have to pay repair costs (be care­ful off-piste with rocks). Dis­counts of 10–20% are often avail­able just by ask­ing, and pre-book­ing online can often save up to 40%. When book­ing, you’ll need to spec­i­fy your col­lec­tion point (Vil­lards or Arc 1800).
  • Lift Pass­es: Check lesarcs.com for prices; begin­ners may not need a full pass ini­tial­ly — ask your ski school

Nightlife

  • Bars: Villards/1800 is the liveli­est. Vin Chaud after lifts close, busy again from ~22:00. Most open until 02:00. JO’s has live bands. Eng­lish options in Charvet (5 min walk)
  • There is plen­ty of of Apres enter­tain­ment in the resort. Check out the lat­est venues on the Les Arcs web­site includ­ing the La Folie Douce on the slope front in 1800.
  • Night­club: 1 club in Vil­lards near the Sher­pa super­mar­ket, open until 01:00–04:00, busiest Sat/Thu/Fri

Funicular (Bourg St Maurice → Les Arcs)

Every 20 min, 07:30–19:20 (lat­er on week­ends). Free with ski pass and if you have a train tick­et. Then is then a free bus to 1800 from the Bus stop at the top of the Funic­u­lar in 1600

Finding the Apartment

The Funic­u­lar runs from Les Arcs 1600 to Bourg St Mau­rice (End of Rail­way plat­form) every 20 min­utes and is free with your Ski pass and train tick­et  from 0730 to 1920 (Lat­er on Week­ends). Check out the timetable on the Les Arcs web­site. To get to the bus from the top of the Funic­u­lar in 1600 turn left when you get off and walk down the road to the bus stop/turning area. Take the 1800 bus all the way to Vil­lards, the last stop (The bus will dri­ve down into an under­ground turn­ing point). Note there are a num­ber of stops on the way includ­ing Charvet 1800 where the bus turns around and looks like it is dri­ving back to 1600. Don’t get off here!

Alter­na­tive­ly you can get off the bus at the bot­tom of the Apart­ment before the bus loops round into the top of Vil­lards. Get off at the Roignaux bus stop  & walk down the hill . You will see the Grand Arbois apart­ment block in front of you (Shaped like 3 steps).

By Rail

Direct Eurostar “Snow Train” Water­loo → Bourg St Mau­rice (week­ends). Indi­rect trains via Paris most days. Also check­out raileurope.co.uk, trainline.co.uk, eurostar.com, sncf.fr, ouigo.com

By Car

Fac­tor in road tolls. Dri­ve through & out of Bourg St Mau­rice, fol­low the signs for Les Arcs. Fol­low the road as it winds up the moun­tain. Fol­low the signs for Les Arcs 1800. As you are approach­ing 1800 take the right fork (Small sign post to Vil­lards). Pass through the bar­ri­er & fol­low the road. Even­tu­al­ly you will see the large horse­shoe shape of the Nova Apt block on your left & straight ahead down the hill you will see my Apart­ment block (3 steps shape). You can park in this car park. There is under­ground cov­ered park­ing (its more expen­sive & it is advis­able to reserve in advance) if you fol­low the road all the way round to Vil­lards. If you use this car park then you can access the apart­ment from the top door.

Parking

At apart­ment base or Funic­u­lar car park in Bourg St Mau­rice. Charges apply — check lesarcs.com. The resort is try­ing to encour­age less cars in Les Arcs so find­ing a park­ing space dur­ing peak weeks can some­times be chal­leng­ing!
